Figure Drawing - Superheros and Villains
For this assignment, we will cover how to draw both a face and a figure using guiding lines for standard proportion. Then we will consider both form and function as guiding priciples in designing a character.
Using these techniques, you will each design your own superhero, or super villain if you'd rather.
With whatever 2D medium you'd like - pencils, ink pens, color pencils, sharpies, paint, linocut, anything else we have - you will all make an art piece of your character, including a little bit about who they are, and what they fight for, or against.
You will be graded on:
* Use of correct proportion in the face
* Use of correct proportion in the body
* Use of design principles of form and function
* Originality (Some personal connection, not just a copy of Iron Man)
Questions to consider for this project:
What IS a superhero?
If you were to make one, what or who would they fight?
What is a villain?
What are global issues you think are affecting the planet right now?
Are they affecting you personally? If so, how?
If you had to wear one outfit forever, what would it be?
What is one challenge for you today? Could the character you are designing help you out in conquering this challenge?
Have fun, and happy drawing!
